February Fashion Challenge

february fashion challenge

Okay, so it’s the middle of winter and the other day I was looking out the window at rain and grey skies. It was no incentive to put together a cute outfit. It was the kind of weather that causes depression...DEPRESSION people! To avoid a severe case of the sads, I’m going to attempt a little February project. Because when your plate is already full, why not pile on more?

My idea is for a February Fashion Challenge. I will pick 28 pieces in my wardrobe and show you how I styled each piece. I will not be buying any new items. I will simply shop within my own closet. This may seem redundant, but I've chosen each piece for a reason. Some are things I've never worn, others are pieces I have a difficult time styling, and some are just my favourite pieces in my wardrobe. I'm trying to step outside of my comfort zone and push my styling limits.

And if you didn't take the time to count the number of items in the picture above, it's only 18. I still need to photograph the next 10 pieces, which is what happens when you try to pack 28 things in a hurry. Attempting to blog every day for a month is a huge challenge, but I'm totally up for it (haha I say this now, but talk to me in 2 weeks).

It's day one tomorrow and I think I might start with the bow belt, or maybe the fur hat...we'll just have to see.

Happy Monday :)

Metropolis Hot Seats

posted on: January 30, 2011

Before I enter into 28 days of fashion posts, I HAVE to tell you about my awesome experience in the Metropolis Hot Seats.

Metropolis Hot Seats is a campaign that Metropolis at Metrotown started last year for its customers. Metrotown shoppers have the chance to win a seat for you and a guest at the Metropolis Hot Seats Box at Roger's Arena. This includes Canucks games, NBA pre season games, and concerts like Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, Jack Johnson, etc.

I had the honour of joining Sarah and the Hot Seats winners last week to see the Canucks battle the Sharks. The game was awesome (despite their loss in a shoot out) and it was a blast hanging out with the Hot Seats winners. Among them was Madeleine, an 86 year old die-hard Canucks fan. She came wearing a signed Canucks jersey and Canucks earrings, and brought a bag full of Canucks merchandise! It was so great seeing such a big Canucks fan, she has followed them from the beginning! The Hot Seats Box comes full of snacks, drinks, hot food, and my favourite, a warm cookie during the third period. Honestly, one could get used to watching the game in such luxury.

Great time in the Hot Seats

You'd be crazy not to enter the Metropolis Hot Seats contest. They choose winners often, as there are always events at Roger's Arena. It's so simple to enter. Next time you're at Metrowotwn (don't lie, you must go there sometimes :P) just go to a Customer Service desk and ask them for a ballot. There's one Customer Service on the upper level by Claire's and West 49, as well as one on the ground level by Forever 21. And i
f the Canucks make it into the playoffs, I predict these Hot Seats will get even hotter!!!

A big thanks to the lovely Sarah and to the Metropolis Hot Seats program. You can always "LIKE" their Facebook page for more information or check their website for updates and new contests.

When I started this blog almost 3 years ago, I knew nothing about anything blog related. I changed my blog name once a week, I didn't reach out to any other bloggers, I had no consistency or direction, etc. Now that I have a big interest in marketing and social networking, I realize that my blog "brand" is a mess. Am I 604fashionista, aliciafashionista, back on the block, Alicia Quan? If I don't know, then YOU certainly don't know either!

So to start the year off right I'll be giving the old blog a little face lift and re branding it as simply:

Forget all those other names (except I can't change Twitter now, that would just be criminal). And please stick around while I spend this week fixing things up around here.

PS you can now "Like" aliciafashionista on Facebook.

PPS I have a VERY exciting fashion challenge coming up in February that I think you'll all love. Details soon :D

Our friend Danica was in town last Sunday (LOL our friend, like we share her) as well as our friends Rob and Jo, who have been in Australia for the past year. We decided to do a lap around the Seawall to show Dani what Vancouver has to offer. Also because any moment that isn't pouring down rain feels like an opportunity to go for a walk these days. Coffees and catching up with friends is my ideal Sunday afternoon, it was so wonderful to see everyone!

simple layers & life as a fashion stylist

This outfit pretty much reflects my uniform lately: jeans, blouse, sweater, repeat. The only added bonus is the hat...okay, and the seagulls. Isn't that seagull print cute? I'm really loving all the fun prints I've seen this season. Just can't seem to get enough of them!

I'm pretty sure that I'm already sick of winter. I get one week of sunshine and I'm a total weather snob. Ready whenever you are Spring :)
