I love wearing winged eyeliner. I sometimes do a more subtle version for daytime, and a thick, dramatic wing for a night on the town! The trouble, however, is that when friends ask how I get the look, I'm completely unable to explain it. That's why I was so curious to find out how makeup artist Kahlia Adams suggested we all achieve the perfect winged liner.
Start by drawing a guide with a white eye pencil, following the lower lash line.
Draw a line across the upper lid on the lash line and above the white pencil line, using an angle brush and some black eyeliner. Shadow is easier to remove and control
then a gel or liquid liner . You can make sure your proportions are correct
before using the less forgiving medium.
Then take a pen eyeliner (we used a Skinny Marker by NYX)
and start just outside the tear duct till the end of the lash line on both
sides. Flip the pen around so the skinniest part was at the tip of the
wing and follow the guideline. You can build the line up do its as thick and
dramatic as you want.
Use a wet Q-Tip to remove your white line, et voila!
