The plan on Friday was to go out to my parent’s house to eat their food, do some laundry, and catch up on blogging. Then I realized that my plan was wayyy too responsible and that I felt like drinking and relaxing instead. So Brandi and I thought we’d act like we were 16 again and go drink on the beach!

We grabbed a blanket and our best hippie/beach inspired outfits and headed to English Bay. We made a stop at the corner store to purchase our mix and stood outside Mac’s filling our drinks with vodka. We also took some shots…all or nothing, right? We made it to the beach in time for a gorgeous sunset and some awesome people watching.

I cannot describe to you how much fun it is to sit on a beach with a girlfriend, just talking about everything and nothing. It’s so incredibly refreshing! There was no noise of a coffee shop or time restrictions at a restaurant. It was just us gossiping to each other (and probably everyone else on the beach around us…I’m sure they now know all my secrets haha)

Our night of course turned into a slew of random adventures, which are probably only cool to Brandi and I. Although, one guy did tell Brandi that she looked like Zooey Deschanel, which I consider a huge compliment!

While walking back to the skytrain, we were stopped by a man who was promoting a local bar. He handed us business cards displaying a picture of Colonel Sanders with an afro. He went on about how we seemed like we’d fit in at this party and that it was free. Brandi’s policy is to always say yes (within reason) so we had no choice but to give it a go. We walked down a flight of stairs into a scene out of a movie. It looked like we were in someone’s basement with a bar, strobe lights, and a dj….hilarious!

We danced for a while, but it was just too weird of a scene for our liking. Perhaps if we’d been on drugs or with a large group of friends it would have been more appreciated, but we don’t do drugs and it was just us two. So we left after only like 20 minutes.

Though we loved our hippie inspired outfits, we think that we’ll have to tone it down for next time so that we aren’t mistaken for girls who belong in an underground dance party!

I had a beach day with a girlfriend earlier this summer. I wish I could squeeze in another one before it ends but I don't think I will. Glad I can live vicariously through you!

    Love this post!

Sometime you have to bring the beach back to highschool days and just spike your Big Glup.

Now that's the way to spend a day! You girls are brave! I don't think I have ever ended up at a "basement" party! LOL! But what a great story.

this is such an awesome post. great photos and sounds like you had good times with your gf on the beach. I couldn't agree more about just hanging out and just shooting the breeze with a good girlfriend, it's def something that money can't buy! I also love the drinking at the beach in hippie-inspired outfits haha I haven't done that in awhile (the drinking part), not sure if I could pull off a hippie look very well. I love the headband and sunglasses though. That last photo is beautiful.
