day 20 // the vintage dress

February 25, 2011
day 20 layers are so necessary
I was Christmas shopping with Adam in December and we’d wandered into True Value Vintage. I had given him STRICT instructions beforehand not to let me shop for myself…no matter what. So naturally, when I tried on this dress and stood in front of the mirror trying to convince him myself that I needed it, he lectured me about not needing another dress. I left the store cranky, slightly bitter that Adam had talked me out of the purchase (even though I told him to do so), and sad that I couldn’t have the dress.
Well, Christmas day I open up one of my gifts from Adam and there it was, my cobalt blue vintage dress. That sneaky little bugger went back to purchase it, even after my toddler-esq pouting and whining. What a sweet guy. I got my mom to hem it for me this week, as it was past my knees in the most unflattering way. I was finally able to wear it for the first time today to work and then to Eco Fashion Week. More about the Nicole Bridger show and EFW another time though.

So, as you can tell from my lack of posts this week things have been pretty crazy. I am unfortunately going to have to end my February Fashion Challenge today instead of carrying on for another week. I have new blog projects on the way, and will definitely always be challenging myself with new and unworn items. Hope you all understand 🙂

What a cute dress! And even cuter story of how Adam got it for you. Lucky you for having such a sweet guy (though I would have been stubborn and purchased the dress even if I told my bf not to let me haha!)!

Sad you decided to end your fashion challenge, but it's totally understandable and you had a great run! I've definitely been inspired 🙂

    Wow, so fun!
Isn't it sad that True Value Vintage is closing/moving in to the 'I Found' gallery on Main?! They did have an amazing closing sale, though!! I had serious heart palpitations being around so much cheap vintage.

Nice thrifting find! I really need to get to True Value before they move far away from me 🙁 That color looks great on you and the mini hemline and boots totally updates this dress from frump to hot!

A, you are just the cutest thing! LOVE the blue dress and PROPS to Adam for one-upping you with it hahaha, that's how you know he's a keeper. You look amazing in the dress, esp with the contrast against your gorgeous dark hair (hair envy!). I also love the collar on the dress, it's so unique; I can see why you fell in love with it. Keep up the great work with your challenge! You're doing such an awesome job 😉
