Making A Point

I had all sorts of big plans and ideas for my week away.  I packed my computer and I even brought our wedding thank you cards to work on.  Then, I got here and remembered that sometimes it’s best to put phones and computers (and cards) away and to actually live in the moment.

You see, a few months ago, I happened to click on one of my Air Canada emails and caught a seat sale!  I ended up paying what would be considered a low cost for a direct to and from Toronto.  This was perfect, I’d thought, because my friend/old roommate and her husband had a little baby girl this summer, and were therefore unable to attend the wedding.  I figured I’d cash in my birthday gift this year and fly over to Ontario for a visit!

I had no idea that I’d get here and have a total Eat, Pray, Love experience…in Hamilton, Ontario of all places.  Baby snuggles with an adorably loveable and super relaxed 4 month old will do this to you.  I don’t know.  I just feel like maybe I needed this.  A solo jaunt across the country and a catch up with old friends.  Maybe it was just the right time to get clarity on what path I’ll be on for the upcoming year in terms of career, health, and adventure.  Sometimes it takes a break from reality to understand what’s happening.  It’s not easy to recognize your struggles when you’re immersed in them.  If you’re feeling even a tiny bit lost, I’m telling you now to put the technology away and go on a little solo mission.  Even if it’s only a short hike or exploring a town nearby, just get out there and soak it all in.  You might end up finding a new outlook on things!

Enough therapy session though, let’s not forget about this look.   I am literally ALL about sweaters that appear to be layered with another top but are secretly all one piece. So flattering and incredibly simple. Oh, and insta-chic oversized envelope clutches are a closet staple right now!
