young hearts run free

I used to have the worst time vintage shopping. I was impatient, never found my size, and ultimately discouraged. The more I went into vintage boutiques though, the more I learned about what I liked and what to avoid. Almost a way of narrowing the search down in a giant store full of one-of clothing items. My latest epiphany came at the good old Value Village. I was looking for a silk button up blouse and was leaving the store empty handed and frowning. Then just as I was about to leave my eyes wandered to the left at the men’s section. I thought about how maybe just MAYBE there was a hope that I’d find what I was looking for. Alas, there at the front of the rack was a cream Club Monaco 100% silk blouse in a size Small for $7. I couldn’t believe my luck.

But, I don’t think it was luck. Because when I was in San Fran at Wasteland, I found two amazing items in the men’s section. So, despite my better judgement I am letting you in on my latest shopping secret: try vintage shopping in the men’s section next time. You never know what amazing over sized blouse, sweater, or jacket you may come across. And I will probably kick myself for ever sharing this with you, but perhaps you’ll find some amazing menswear items next time you’re browsing the racks of vintage goodies. Happy Shopping ๐Ÿ™‚

    1) You look like you are straight out of the 70s, which I love.

    2) The mens section RULES. It's been a long time since I've done any vintage shopping, but Matt and I were ALWAYS in the mens section. You make me want to go back to VV and buy everything.

    You look great Alicia ๐Ÿ™‚

Your blouse was similar to the one on my wish list on the Madewell site.

I usually check out the men's wear at True Value Vintage and Deluxe Junk.

Love! So far this is my favourite outfit ๐Ÿ™‚ I've been looking for a blouse like that for a while now. But it's so difficult to find one that fits well without looking WAY too oversized on me!

Btw, you look gorgeous! I actually didn't know you were any part Chinese until I read your blogger profile. I couldn't tell at all!

And I'll post pictures soon on my JC-ish shoes. I don't think they're worth it to be honest. They're really easy to stud. But I'll blog about them soon!

Ooh 100% silk, classic but on-trend at the same time, and only $7! Great find all around.

I just read the preceding post. Sorry to hear that you were feeling sad, and I hope that whatever had you down isn't affecting you now. <3

Such a pretty outfit, you look great! I never thought I would say this but… the socks and sandals combo looks really good.

It's such a great idea to look in the men's wear. Next time I will venture to the other side of the Value Village.

Oh man I'm still apprehensive about second hand shopping… I get itchy and claustrophobic from the smells hahah. That blouse is such a great find though my goodness. I guess its just about perseverance!
