No Makeup Makeup

I have spent years trying to perfect the no makeup makeup look.  The key is definitely skin, so what I really wanted was light but full coverage, which is kind of like asking for a unicorn for your birthday.  I’ve started a new cleansing skincare routine (revealing that on Instagram on Thursday, stay tuned) which has helped me with redness and clearer skin, but the challenge remains with coverage.  The real miracle, is that I just might have found the right formula!

The look we’re going for, is even, glowing skin, natural brows, and exaggerated lashes.  Below are a few favourite products that have worked well all summer!

I finally went into Sephora about a month ago, after a night of little to no sleep, begging for a great under eye concealer.  I was after something that covers dark circles and does a bit of brightening.  They suggested a Canadian brand called Cover FX.  I ended up with their Cream Concealer in ‘N’ which I’ve been very happy with!  It pairs very well under or over my tinted moisturizer, depending on how dark my under eyes are.  Which brings me to…

The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer!  I’ve been using this for years.  In fact, this is my third bottle (haven’t seen the one with SPF in stores lately though).  There is a noticeable difference in my skin when I apply it, but something was never quite right.  That was, until, a few weeks ago when, for no reason I could even explain, I decided to FINALLY try one of the many unused beauty blenders I had lying around.  Following the instructions carefully, I applied the same old Laura Mercier Hydrating Cream Moisturizer and it is incredible.  Dabbing it on with a beauty blender just gives it this extra moisturized and glowy look and I’ve had multiple people comment on my skin irl.  This is the secret!

I realized what I’ve been missing for years is a really great brow brush.  This entire express kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills has everything you need in one, which I always appreciate.  I started added a bit of highlighter above my brow at the arch as seen in a beauty YouTube video (wish I knew which one, sorry about that, I’m often just in a YT spiral).  The darker shade is what I’ve used in these photos, with the sparkly highlight underneath the brow.

The other important component to this look is a bit of bronzer and highlighter and blush on the cheeks.  The highlight really makes a big difference!

I’ve been having a total struggle with lip colour lately.  Some days I still like rocking a bright statement colour, but I’ve definitely noticed myself gravitating towards more of a dusty pink/nude lipstick.  Anyone else feeling this way?  I feel like it might just be THE colour for fall!

And that’s basically it!  I’m thinking about showing you everything in a YouTube video, let me know in the comments below if you’d like me to do a tutorial!  Hope you’re all having a wonderful day xo

Hi there Alicia! Hope you’re doing great 🙂 Please definitely do a video. I know I’m not the only one who would love to see the tips and tricks for the natural glow. I’m also curious if you do have any Fall darker lips in your ensemble– like berry tones? I’m curious about the trend and could use some gentle suggestions. Ha!

I was wondering where the tinted moisturizer with SPF went as well but I asked the salesperson at Sephora last time I went in to pick up a refill and she told me that the version on the shelves actually does have SPF (she pointed out the active ingredients to me but I can’t recall what they were); however, they had to stop labeling it as “SPF” because of a Canadian labeling restriction. Not sure of the details but that explained where my go-to product went!

Thanks for the beauty blender tip – I’ll have to try it out!

That makes SO much sense! So glad you asked, Kelsi! I’ve just wondered what the heck happened to the SPF. Let me know how it goes with the beauty blender 🙂 xoxo
