Pieces Of 70’s Flare

We’ve all been guilty of it.  A hot trend hits NYFW, blogs, and magazines and we’re overcome with a sense of NEED.  This often leads to us to impulse buy and sometimes it’s for such a short lived trend!  These days, I’m trying to be a little more conscious of my spending and am aiming for smarter purchases that truly reflect my personal style.  I’m also doing my best to re-wear as often as possible.

My good friend Alexandra of To Vogue Or Bust and I decided to tackle the 70’s trend with two different looks and I’m proud to say that I was able to do so without splurging on anything new!  Something as broad as “70’s style” has the ability to be created with a modern twist, and hopefully with items you already own or can find second-hand!  Take a look:

This first outfit was an individual take on flared trousers.  Be sure to read more about why we think flares are basically magical and work wonders for curves of any shape or size on The Everygirl.  We both paired it with a camisole style blouse to help update a classic silhouette.  I found some awesome platform gladiator sandals from many moons ago and borrowed a purse from Alex (admittedly only because I couldn’t find my fringe bag that I’ve, of course, since found).  What do you think of our take on 70’s flared trousers?  Would you rock it?

All these photos are by the fiercely talented Christie Graham and our makeup was perfected by the lovely Denise Elliott.

Well done…both of you! I spent my teenage years in the seventies, and I’m reticent about going back there, LOL. Seeing your current 70s flare could tempt me though.

On an aside…I saw you in Whistler while I was waiting for a table at Earl’s. It wasn’t until you had passed that I realized who you were, and to run after a newlywed seemed a little stalkerish. I didn’t think it possible, but you are more beautiful in person. Congrats on your marriage!

You guys both nailed this trend so perfectly! The green paired with that black and white top look so fresh.
