I really wanted to do something super fun and wild and crazy for my last outfit, so I looked to Whitney Port for inspiration. This brought me to incorporate a hipster bun (or cinnamon bun hehe) and some mustard yellow into an outfit, et voila!
The feather piece on my vintage blazer is actually a hair piece. The hair clip part was falling off, so I just pulled it off completely and safety pinned it to the lapel of the blazer. It’s not easy trying to make a mustard yellow blazer look different from when I wore it only a few days ago!!!!
I have sat here for quite a while just staring at these pictures trying to figure out what to say. I think I’m blogged out from posting so much over the past few days. Here we are at Day 30, the most important day of them all, and I’m at a loss for words.
I suppose the first place to start is to say thank you.
Thank you so much Kendi for being a daily inspiration with your outfit photos and hilariously witty commentary. If you hadn’t invited all of us to join then I would have never met so many other amazing bloggers from all over the world!
That brings me to saying thanks to all the people who have religiously followed me these past 30 days to see what I’ve come up with. I’m still amazed that people even care, but if I can inspire you or even just make you smile, then that makes me incredible happy!
I’d also like to say merci beaucoup to my friends and family for taking photos and being supportive, as well as all the followers, commenters, retweeters, etc. etc.
A big internet hug, you all ROCK 🙂
30 days of not shopping has been the best thing that could have happened to me (and my bank account) this summer. I am taking a moment to admit to you that I have a serious shopping addiction. Not a ha-ha I love shopping and buy a lot, I mean like full on addiction. It was time to stop this now, rather than letting it spiral out of control for the next 10 years. I want to be proud of what I buy, rather then feeling pangs of guilt every time I look at my overflowing closet.
The 30 for 30 challenge certainly hasn’t cured me. I went into Barefoot Contessa a few days ago (which is a whole other story to come later) and instantly felt the addiction. My face got hot as I filled with panic and anxiety. I wanted to look at everything in the store, my brain quickly calculating how much I could spend on new clothes and the stunning jewellery the day after the challenge was over. It took a lot of strength to leave the store empty handed, without even trying anything on. Once I stepped outside, my head cleared and I was brought back to reality. I didn’t need anything new right now, and if I did want anything new I was to save up and wait to purchase.
In order to continually try to save money and improve my spending habits I have set boundaries. I will try to keep the ban in place until I go to San Fransisco in September. If I absolutely feel the need to break the no-shopping rules, then I cannot purchase the item until I’ve left the store and thought about it for a few days. The worst thing that could happen is that it could sell out, and then so what? It wasn’t meant to be!
I’m so impressed that the challenge forced me to realize how easy it is to remix the clothing you already own. I look forward to posting more outfits that are just items from my wardrobe, and I SERIOSULY can’t wait to wear my other pairs of shoes haha!!!!

Miss Melissa finished the challenge a day earlier than I did, so yesterday we met up to do a little Fort Langley photo shoot. She brought balloons to celebrate, make sure you check out her outfit post here! I hadn’t been to Fort Langley since I was in grade 5, so it was very nice to go back and remember its charm!
So, every time I saw someone yesterday they’d be sure to mention how much they loved my earrings bla bla bla. I usually don’t know what to say back to compliments except to tell people where I got the item they’ve pointed out. Naturally, I responded to everyone by explaining that I got them at Wal Mart, excited to see the shock on their faces!
When I got home last night I stood in the kitchen talking to my roomie, and while she was telling me about her day I decided to take my earrings out. Turns out one of my earrings was completely missing the bottom half of the earring. So now I can’t help but think that people felt like they had to comment on my earrings because one was a stud and one was a chandelier, and that’s when I’d gush about how I found them at Wal Mart of all places, and they’d be looking at me thinking obviously you got them at Wal Mart, they’ve fallen apart?
Haha, and the sad part is that I’m just upset they broke because I really like them 😛
A long weekend Monday evening is a day to lounge around, catch up on emails, and stare at the growing pile of laundry to do…
Scarf and Bag from Plum (I am sorry that I use the same purse so often!) // Bracelet from H&M
My first attempts at photos were not the most flattering….
A scarf was the absolute wrong thing to wear on a ferry. I almost lost it in the wind, as you can tell from the above photo! Adam and I went to Bowen Island on Sunday to visit with his friends who own houses there. It’s such a treat to have free accommodations, especially at a place that is so close and fairly inexpensive to get to. Adam spent most of his childhood on the island, as his family owned a home there for a portion of his life. It made me laugh because as soon as we got there and went down to the beach, all the guys seemed to transform into boys, goofing around like they were 12 again. I think it’s good for the soul to act youthful when you can though, it helps keep you young 🙂
Three more posts tonight before I cross the finish line…wish me luck :)!!
Triple posts today…that’s just how I roll! I am so behind on my outfits, tomorrow is actually my last day! Can you even believe that 30 days have gone by? Seriously don’t know where the time went…summer is almost over!!! I’ll be scrambling to bring you up to speed again tomorrow, but I think I work best under time pressure and deadlines.
Saturday was one of my favourite outfits of the 26 I’ve posted so far. When I first started the challenge I assumed that I’d lose all outfit creativity during the last few days, but I’ve almost gained confidence and really taken the challenging part of it to heart. Something as simple as adding the hat and red lipstick really livened up a dark colour palette. That hat was on sale at UO back in February for $5, so you can imagine my disbelief when she rang it in and the total was $2.80!!! Yes, the hat was regular $40, reduced to $5 and then 50% off that! Such a great deal, I wish that every time someone rang in my purchase that the total was half of what I expected it to be 😉
Arcade Fire – The Suburbs
The plan on Friday was to go out to my parent’s house to eat their food, do some laundry, and catch up on blogging. Then I realized that my plan was wayyy too responsible and that I felt like drinking and relaxing instead. So Brandi and I thought we’d act like we were 16 again and go drink on the beach!
“I’ve got a water bottle full of vodka and I’m on my way to your house” – B (we’re all class)
We grabbed a blanket and our best hippie/beach inspired outfits and headed to English Bay. We made a stop at the corner store to purchase our mix and stood outside Mac’s filling our drinks with vodka. We also took some shots…all or nothing, right? We made it to the beach in time for a gorgeous sunset and some awesome people watching.
I cannot describe to you how much fun it is to sit on a beach with a girlfriend, just talking about everything and nothing. It’s so incredibly refreshing! There was no noise of a coffee shop or time restrictions at a restaurant. It was just us gossiping to each other (and probably everyone else on the beach around us…I’m sure they now know all my secrets haha)
While walking back to the skytrain, we were stopped by a man who was promoting a local bar. He handed us business cards displaying a picture of Colonel Sanders with an afro. He went on about how we seemed like we’d fit in at this party and that it was free. Brandi’s policy is to always say yes (within reason) so we had no choice but to give it a go. We walked down a flight of stairs into a scene out of a movie. It looked like we were in someone’s basement with a bar, strobe lights, and a dj….hilarious!
We danced for a while, but it was just too weird of a scene for our liking. Perhaps if we’d been on drugs or with a large group of friends it would have been more appreciated, but we don’t do drugs and it was just us two. So we left after only like 20 minutes.
Jaill – The Stroller
1. What the last movie you’ve watched?
Adam made me watch Snatch on Saturday because he couldn’t believe I’d never seen it. It wasn’t my usual cup of tea, but I did enjoy it!
2. If you could only have one sweet for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Life could not go on without chocolate.
3. Do you have a green thumb?
I seem to kill any plants I’ve ever owned. I am a plant murderer…
4. Motto running through your head?
Lately I’ve just been trying to “stay true to myself”. I think it’s too easy to get caught up in what people think and comparisons etc. I need to constantly remind myself to not care what everyone else is doing or thinks, but that my own happiness is truly what matters!
5. Calorie-burner of choice?
Since it’s summer I have been walking and running outside after work. I’m starting a pilates class in September and thinking about trying hatha yoga too, but we’ll see!
6. Pencils or pens?
I think I’ll have to go with pens. I even do crossword puzzles in pen! Although they usually end up with a bunch of scribbles. Maybe I should start using pencils…
7. If you could only wear one nail color, what would it be?
Ahhh, but I’m nail colour obsessed right now!!!! I’d have to go with American Apparel Mouse nail colour. It’s a purple-ish grey and I think could be worn all year.
8. Would you rather waltz with a walrus or samba with a sloth? Why?
I would rather samba than waltz, so I’ll go with samba with a sloth. But I don’t know how awake the sloth would be…it might be more of a solo than a duo!
My questions pour vous:
1) Favourite type of food? (Italian, Mexican, Japanese, etc…)
2) If you were trapped on a desert island, which 3 cds would you choose to have with you?
3) Vintage or Brand New?
4) Favourite piece in your wardrobe right now and why?
5) If you had a choice to live for free anywhere in the world for a year, where would you go? 6) Coffee or Tea?
7) How do you express your creativity?
8) How would you describe your personal style?
I encourage all of you reading this to answer these questions, either on your blog or in the comments. I don’t know if I could tag 8 people, but I will definitely try to get SmellyDanielly, KisekaeDoll, MissMarlee, and Krista to complete this XOXO
