Coach’s Corner

March 5, 2016

coach saddle bag, alicia fashionista, best vancouver fashion blog, vancouver style blogger

My very first Coach bag!  And probably the closest thing to a sports term that I will ever reference on this blog.  I have been doing my best to consolidate my giant tote bags or just not carrying one at all.  Turns out that stuffing your pockets with card holders, a phone, lipstick, and car keys isn’t exactly the daintiest, so I really have been trying to find the perfect small-ish purse.

Red Dress

March 1, 2016

revolve clothing, alicia fashionista, vancouver fashion blog, tularose clayton tunic, red dress for wedding, vancouver street style

I saw this dreamy dress on REVOLVE and knew right away that it had to be mine!  I’m always hunting online for a standout piece with unique detailing like this.  An intricate lace overlay with high neck, the perfect amount of cap sleeve, and cute little pom poms?  It’s hard for me to believe that something this beautiful actually exists and at a reasonable price point.   AND I just saw that my ultimate fashion crush Sincerely Jules wore this to Coachella last year – swoon!  My only regret is that I didn’t find this Tularosa Clayton Tunic months ago, how perfect would this have been for our Chinese wedding reception?  That’s okay, I just hope that one of you purchases this baby for your Tea Ceremony and all can be right in this world!

See below for my comments on the fit if you are thinking of adding this number to your online shopping cart!

Short Hair/Long Jacket

February 29, 2016

alicia fashionista, vancouver fashion blog, vancouver street style

Do you ever have so much on your to-do list that you end up avoiding it all together?  That’s exactly where I’m at.  I’ve spent the past 3 weeks planning and shooting so much content that I’ve been sitting here, stewing in ideas with no clue where to begin.  Let’s start with this.  Hi again.  This is my long coat, that at 5′ 4 and 3/4″ (never did make it to 5′ 5″), I never thought I’d be capable of rocking.  Jokes on me, I’ve since been wearing this thing for 2 weeks straight, as it accompanied me on our trip.  The form fitting, feminine cut of this coat makes it simple to style casually and the ultimate in stylish versatility.  I’m wearing an almost floor length coat with sneakers.  Anything is possible.  It’s a great time to be alive.

Hi from London

Photo by To Vogue Or Bust

I know that I shouldn’t be in the hotel room wrapped up in this robe, hair still wet, while the world and endless opportunity is passing by, but alas, here I am writing you.  Sight seeing can wait another 20 minutes.  We’re only a few days in, but I already have that fire inside my soul that only travel can ignite.  And something about London is different this time.  I can’t quite explain it, but it feels like I’m seeing the city from an entirely different perspective.  It’s drawing me in and I just feel like I need more time to get to know it a bit better.  Wait, am I starting a relationship with London?!?  This is major.

Awkward + Awesome

February 4, 2016

alicia fashionista, vancouver fashion blog, best vancouver style blog

Back in the day, I used to LOVE the daybook‘s Awkward and Awesome Thursdays.  As I wrote this post, that was the exact direction things were going.  I looked at the calendar (yes, I had to look it up because I live a freelance life) and it just so happens to be Thursday.  So here, we are, about to be both awkward and awesome together, much like I am every single day.

24 Hours In Florence

February 3, 2016

24 hours in florence, florence italy, honeymoon in italy, what to do in florence, should i go to see florence, best food in florence, where to eat in florence italy, alicia fashionista, best canadian travel blog

Truthfully, Florence didn’t even make our original itinerary.  It was only added later on, when we ran our trip plans by people and they gasped in shock at the fact that we were skipping over their beloved Firenze.  It was a simple addition, we just shed one night off our Venice stay and opted for a quick 24 hours in Florence.  I really did feel a bit better about adding a brief glimpse of Tuscany to our schedule, and spoiler alert!  Everyone was right, Florence is a must.

Went shopping the other day because I may or may not need something new to wear for a VERY exciting event coming up (was that cryptic enough for you?  More details soon, just don’t want to jinx the tentative plans).  So mystery.  Much vague.  Anyway, I was finally allowing myself to purchase something new.  My treat!  I went from store to store and change room to change room and so much time passed that night fell, but I tell ya.  I left that darn mall with a white t-shirt and an overpriced hair elastic.  WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!  Alicia 6 years ago would have bought an entire new spring wardrobe.  Oh, how times have changed.  The good news is that I love the white tee and minimalism is soooo in.

15 Favourite Wedding Moments

January 26, 2016

Two days after the wedding, we sat out on the deck of our Whistler mini-moon accommodation.  I opened up my Rifle Paper Co. notebook and removed the cap from my black Faber Castell Pitt pen.  Nothing motivates me to write like a new pen and a fresh notebook.  I’m a total stationary junkie.  Adam poured us some glasses of wine and picked an Indie Spotify playlist.  Despite our lingering fatigue, I insisted that we sit down together and take the time to jot down our very favourite memories from the wedding day.  It’s so funny when these little moments are happening, because you feel like your mind could never possibly let go of these distinctly lovely scenes.  It’s those little details though, that soon get muddled.  And so, being me, I wanted to make sure we wrote it all down.

Now, I know that Shari and Mike are the best of the best, but I sure was over the moon when we got our photos back and they literally captured exactly what we loved about the weekend.  And so, I must credit them for this post, because without Shari and Mike, these 15 points would simply be written down in a notebook that I probably wouldn’t look at for 10 years.

You should first check out our rehearsal dinner and, of course, our wedding day.  If you’ve already completed your required reading, then without further ado (yeah, I don’t think I say that irl…), here are our 15 favourite wedding memories:

Winter Brights

January 25, 2016

bright winter outfit, gastown vancouver, alicia fashionista

I’d originally tried this LOFT sweater a few months ago when I found my faux leather pencil skirt.  I’d paired the two together and desperately wanted them both.  Funds were tight though, so I left with the skirt and said goodbye to the sweater.  Fast forward to the holidays, and I was shopping with my cousin Melissa when she revealed that she had me for “Secret” Santa.  She insisted that I pick something out that day, her treat, but for the life of me, I couldn’t find something in that entire mall that I wanted.  We saw LOFT up ahead and I remembered this sunny yellow sweater, but they of course, were out of my size.  With the holiday madness, I forgot all about the entire experience and was completely surprised on Boxing Day when I opened up my gift and it was this sweater!  That sneaky/thoughtful Melissa went to a different location to find my size.  She’s kind of the best.  I love a punch of colour to bring brightness to the middle of winter!
