As of last week, my hair was in a state of emergency. The length was so out of control. It was at the point where only the ends would curl, I constantly found nests of knots in the back, and I was wearing my hair up in a bun more often than anyone should. And so, I called in for backup and saw Michael at TRiM for a fresh haircut.
Most people who see me just comment on the fact that my long hair is gone, but I LOVE this change. It’s so much healthier, easier to manage, and perfect for our trip to Mexico next week. My hair grows like a weed anyway, so in a month you won’t even be able to tell I cut it 😛
Did you do anything shocking (yes, this is classified as “shocking” in my world) with your hair this year? How did yours turn out?
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics are 100% vegan and cruelty free which is very important to Kahlia and I. These Lip Tars contain Hemp oil, peppermint oil and vitamin E so it conditions your lips as you wear it. They are also heavily pigmented, so keep in mind that a little bit really goes a long way.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics ‘Strumpet’ Lip Tar can be found online or in Vancouver at Sephora for around $19 CAD.
EYES
Start by applying a champagne cream eyeshadow all over the lid. Then put a dot of the lip tar on the hand and sheer it out with a brush until you get the colour you’re looking for. Then apply it to the crease of the eye.
CHEEKS
We mixed the colour with another medium to give it a bit of a pearly glow (we used Strobe Cream by MAC). This sheers out the colour and should be applied to apples of the cheeks to give you a healthy flush.
LIPS
Apply the product with the little brush that is included with the lip tar. Just use a little on your brush, if you use to much you might end up with the colour bleeding on your lip line! Start at the centre of your mouth around your lip line and work your way to the sides, then fill in with the leftovers on your brush.

Deck Your Closet was a great success and I want to thank every single person who sponsored the event, helped out the day of, showed up to do some serious shopping, and of course, to my fellow members of The Style Common for putting in so many hours of hard work and planning. The fact that we somehow threw this together in about 5 weeks is incredible, and a true testament to the talent and drive Jen P., Alex, and Jen T. all posses. Would also like to say a BIG thanks to The Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver for letting us host the event in your beautiful Seasons room. It was the perfect venue.
I think that many people don’t know what to expect at these clothing sales. They often explain to me the day-of that they’re just floored by the quality of the event and of course, of the killer prices of the clothing. Hearing such positive feedback makes me so happy and proud to be part of such an awesome local community.
If you missed this shopping event, not to worry! We’ll be having our annual Spring Vancouver Blogger Sale again in March. More info coming your way in the new year! Thanks again to everyone involved in Deck Your Closet. What a fun, memorable day! xo

This is a VERY special day. Apparently, today is the last repetitive date we’ll ever see. I sincerely hope you spent this momentous occasion wisely 😛
In preparation for Deck Your Closet, our apartment looked like a really cool but totally stress-inducing craft room slash thrift shop. Our bed frame and all the contents normally stored underneath our bed were also all over our living room (we broke our bed…in a non-weird way, a piece of it apparently warped and we were woken up last Sunday morning when a section of our bed gave way). Work has been so much fun but just non-stop, and I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been trying to blog 5 days a week. And, I’m proud to say that I’ve done so for an entire month. That’s 20 posts in 30 days, an aliciafashionista.com record!
Yes, it has been a lot. But keeping this simple holiday inspired message on the board has actually helped keep me sane. Every time I’d look at the day and think “There’s NO way I can get all of this done, it’s mission impossible,” I’d simply remind myself that it will all work out. It always does.
Things have thankfully already slowed down, and I can now try to get into the Christmas spirit. Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and thank you to everyone who was involved with yesterday’s events. Both Deck Your Closet and Timmy’s Telethon were a huge success!
