4 years ago today, i was mourning the loss of my beloved nana and needing some sort of avenue to help me grieve. my friend danielle who had been blogging for years, convinced me to get typing and start one of my own. and on april 13th, 2008, i began this incredible adventure!
this blog has changed my life in every way possible. i’ve been lucky enough to meet some amazing people and make great new friends. there have been unthinkable opportunities both personally and professionally. i am forever grateful.
so, thank you!

don’t know if it’s my age, but what i feel best in for a night out on the town has changed drastically. during my bar star years, i’d often feel as though i had show skin in order to fit in and look “hot”. of course now, i feel sexiest by wearing something i’m comfortable and confident in. it took my a long time to recognize that.
challenged myself to style these jeans last friday evening for a concert at the biltmore. complimenting the coral with classic black, accompanied by gold and aqua accents. kept things pretty basic, but (hopefully) still interesting. the best part? i was covered up and comfy…it was a win win!
many of you probably don’t know oberhofer. i knew little of them myself, only one song ‘i could go’ that i’d stumbled upon (video at the bottom). but, youtube has this lovely new feature where if you’re listening to a band, a little message in the corner alerts you when and where the band is playing in your town! so i got some friends together and we enjoyed an intimate $10 oberhofer show at the biltmore. they were awesome live, their entire ‘time capsules II’ album is going to be my summer anthem! the night ended with a bunch of us dancing on stage while the band played an encore and the entire band came out and partied with everyone afterwards. definitely a night i’ll never forget!
for all you lucky ducks going to coachella, they’ll be there and you must go see them! and for the rest of ya’ll, if you like what you hear in the videos below, you should definitely buy their album!

adam and i have a list of local communities to explore and first up was beautiful steveston. spent good friday shopping, eating, walking along the boardwalk, and of course, taking pictures! here’s a few of the highlights of the day, including our favourite new spots. do you have any favourite things to do in steveston?
this quesadilla from cimona cafe was seriously filling, could have been shared! packed full of vegetable goodies like squash. definitely recommend for cheap, casual eats!
how could we go an entire day without a caffeine hit? we’d heard lots of great things about rocanini coffee roasters and the hype is all true!
and since i dragged him into this online mess that is social media, i must mention that adam is finally on twitter! follow him @madadub if you’d like funny tweets and the possibility of embarrassing photos of me. no seriously…

okay, i’m eating my words. only a few posts ago, i proclaimed that i could NEVER buy coloured denim and here we are….in coloured denim! i just couldn’t help myself while browsing around at muse, these coral bb dakota mattox pant had to be mine! and though intimidated at first, i was determined to figure out the best way to style them. wore them almost every day last week!
because i was cursed blessed with dancer thighs, i found that i felt most comfortable with a long piece, like a sleeveless trench for more of a balanced leg proportion. then i decided to go crazy and play around with colour and pattern! i kept the palette to hues that were in my scarf and threw in a leopard print shoe as a bit of a surprise. lastly, the neutral coloured trench thankfully breaks up an otherwise offensively bright combination. and next up? how i wore these coral pants for a night out on the town!

i absolutely LOVE all things mint this season and was so pleasantly surprised to find this mint coloured sweater at the bottom of my drawer! i also found a similar coloured tank top, it’s amazing what you can discover when you clean out your closet! now i can spend my money on other things, like these new zara beauties. they were a bit of an impulse buy, but what can i say? shoes are my weakness!
and there’s no better way to kick off easter, than with pastels and cute heels. helloooooo long weekend!

i never thought i’d be buying trousers that are so…so…fran drescher on the nanny circa 1996! but i find them oddly flattering (and i happened to miss the cut off date to return them), so here i am in floral printed pants. paired them with a lace textured blouse and disco inspired heels to really embrace a go big or go home kind of attitude. my very own version of a fashion risk! i might even gasp mix them with a different print next time! getting really rebellious thoughts here. soon, i’ll be breaking all the fashion rules and find myself on the fashion police’s most wanted list! my family will be so disappointed, and my reputation tarnished. all the while, thinking “who knew pants could be so dangerous?”
p.s. can you tell i’ve been watching a lot of gilmore girls recently? their fast paced nonsensical chatter really starts to get to you!
