Later that night, someone tweeted at me asking if I’d been in Barefoot that morning. One of the girls I’d spoken with in the store had recognized me!!!!!! Eeeee, it totally made my day! I have always wondered if anyone in Vancouver recognizes me from my blog or Twitter or any of the other 50 million social networks I’m a part of. People…if you ever see me out and about don’t hesitate to ask if it’s me (because it is LOL) No really, don’t be shy I would love for you to say harro 🙂
It was so lovely meeting Lisa of SoloLisa. She is so genuinely nice and you can tell she is incredibly smart and of course, fashionable! It’s always great seeing Carolina of Closet Full of Nothing (we have been friends since high school) and meeting her fab friends!
We were discussing how much Brandi looks like an adorable little doll. We’re going to send her picture to a Japanese magazine (no serious, Carolina knows some people)
I love the lounge at The Opus hotel in Yaletown. I stayed there one weekend with Adam and it was so amazing, I would love to one day stay at their Montreal location. Okay the truth is I just want to go to Montreal. Brandi, could you put me in contact with Moneybags? Just kidding 😛
Miss. Melissa resting her sore feet waiting for the show to start!
Nicole Bridger’s SS10 line was very nice, my favourites were the cocoon sweater and the sheath dress. Check out her website for the complete collection, their pictures are a touch better than mine 😉

I made all 4 of us do outfit pictures and then forgot to ask where everyone got their outfit pieces from! When Melissa does her blog post I’m sure you can find out where she got hers!
Chantelle…you made it on the blog! She didn’t want to do an outfit photo…don’t be shy :)!
Dress from True Value Vintage, Necklace Urban Outfitters, Marc by Marc Jacobs Watch, Purse from Plum, and Kenneth Cole shoes.
I’m sure B’s entire outfit is from England because she lived there last summer and bought all things adorable with bows there!
I am now drunk and it’s Friday and I’m going to watch Saved By The Bell and eat Amy’s delicious microwaved chocolate cake. Yes, you read that…she cooks it in the microwave. It comes with chocolate macadamia nut ice cream as well. YUM!
Another concert post from me…say whaaat? I know, I know, it’s a contributing factor to my shopping addiction. I wouldn’t want to calculate the amount of money I’ve spent on concerts over my lifetime, it’s more than I’d like to admit…
Okay but first of all, we need to talk about this depressing weather!!What the eff?
I normally love Vancouver rain, but it is JUNE weather Gods, not Novemeber…just in case you were confused for a moment.
My outfit is thanks to the amazing Aritzia tank I snagged the other day. I’ve been hunting for months to find the perfect summer tank that I can tuck into all the high waisted items in my closet. I love the tank so much I went to get it in the mint green as well. When you love a basic piece like that, you have to act on it!
We didn’t make it to the show until the opening band was on their last song. It sounded really good though, I’ll have to research and look into them some time!
The changes in lighting at The Commodore have been ahhhmazing lately! Two thumbs up from this little shutterbug!
If you don’t know The Temper Trap, then you should (start out with their first single Sweet Disposition and then take it from there!) They ended their show with Drum Song and Adam and I went crazy dancing and rocking out, it was a blaaaast! They were just fantastic live, I defs recommend 🙂
Another video from the concert. I’m telling you though, I am the worst videographer of all time! Seriously, I try to zoom in and it’s just blurry and the sound isn’t the best quality. But if you try realllly hard to listen for it, you will hear his amazing voice above all the background noise. Enjoy!
The Temper Trap-Down River
I know I sounded pretty emo there for a moment, but seriously thank you all for such kind words and well wishes. I thankfully feel much better now and am currently relaxing in bed (my Saturday night…you jealous?)
I am especially pleased to report to you that I have been promoted at work! I started out three years ago as a ‘junior stylist’, a title that I hated because everyone thought I was a hair dresser. Not that there is anything wrong with being a hair stylist, it was just annoying to explain to everyone what I did for work. I am now a part of the marketing team and I think I’ve decided on the title ‘Online Marketing Specialist’. Fancy, right?
The promotion has forced me into full time hours and puts the brakes on my plans to speed through my last ten courses in school. As of right now I am working 36 hours a week at the office, teaching dance 9 hours a week and taking a 3 hour night class. Perhaps that explains my meltdown(s)? I need to delete something for fall…school seems like the best option. Maybe a distance course? That way I can do the work when it is most convenient for me. Sorry…thinking out loud.
I took my brother shopping today and we spent a bunch of his money. If there’s anything I like more than spending my own money, it’s helping someone else spend theirs. He ended up with plaid chino shorts and grey chino pants from Club Monaco, some basic tees from Old Navy, and a vintage inspired Adidas tee from Plenty. We are going out again soon to hit the boutiques in Gastown and Main Street. He has never been shopping in Vancouver before…can you believe it?
Last night was great fun at Venue on Granville Street. I hadn’t been there since it was the old Plaza, where I’d had such a bad experience I swore I’d never be back. But clearly it’s trying to change itself into a cool place for bands to play. Last night was Local Natives who I sooooo l-o-v-e! If you weren’t there I am telling you right now that you missed out, but hope is not lost. They claim that they’ll be back in the fall woot woot!
They were awesome live, they sound just as good if not better than their Gorilla Manor album!

My favourite part of the job lately has been the styling. Up until a few months ago I had to choose outfits, dress them on a mannequin, photograph them, and post them to the web. This was fun at first, but after a while you realize that dressing a mannequin is an absolute pain. After years of asking for it, I was finally allowed to search for my own real live model and if she passed the test shoot then they’d consider using her for all website photos.
It was easier than I imagined finding someone, since I simply used my social network to post an ad and got quite a great response. We ended up hiring Erin, who is not only gorgeous and super enthusiastic, but she also loves fashion and is very stylish herself!
Here is a small sample of some of the photos we’ve done so far…
She looks so stunning in this Max & Cleo dress!
I’m definitely getting these white earrings…

I can’t decide whether I need this blouse or not, and I really want this skirt but do I really NEED another skirt?
I have to get this top…it’s only $35!
I have this boyfriend blazer too in grey haha wow I have a shopping problem!

This look always makes me wish I was on a beach somewhere!
Completely unrelated to my work, I have to say congratulations to my best friend who was hired today for an amazing job and is finally starting her career/path to fame and fortune. After the “alleged” Olympic incident this year (a whole other story) and obviously for her hard work and talent, she totally deserves a break like this! Heart
We agreed on watches as a gift exchange and OMG he got me the most amazing Marc Jacobs watch! I seriously couldn’t have picked out anything better myself! He also really liked the Nixon watch a got him…phewf!
I obviously wanted to look nice for our anniversary, but I’m having such a hard time dressing for this weather. It seems too far into Spring to wear tights, but it sure feels early to have bare legs! Oh well, I went for it and rocked a skirt sans tights.
I tried to imitate the hair that Marlee did last week.Fail.
The deets on the skirt..airplanes!
Striped Tank Top from Next (England)//Printed Ruffle Detail Skirt from Anthropologie//Vintage Blazer//F21 Accessories//Aldo Shoes
Adam had a $50 GC to the Italian Kitchen so we decided to celebrate there. It worked out perfectly because they gave us a cute table for two by the window. Food was delish but I had one glass too many of the wine. Although, that makes 3 years in a row we’ve been tipsy on our anniversary…so it’s tradition.
Of course these pants came up $5 short of the target price, so they sent me searching for something more. Basically, instead of getting money back like I’d originally planned, I left $30 poorer. Figures.
Green Slub Tee & Tan Belt with Gold Studs both from Plum//Pants from Zara//Necklace from Forever21//Shoes from Nine West
Just have to be careful about how you stand in these pants or else you get the illusion of parts that I obviously don’t have (sorry if you’re turned off Adam hahaha)
I got a really great (and slightly embarrassing…in a good way) surprise at work today. Someone buzzed the office because he had flowers for Alicia. I was confused and forgot there was any special occasion coming up and got totally red in the face about the whole thing. The guy handed me a beautiful bouquet with a card that read Three Years! Love, Adam.
I would like to take a moment to introduce you to my new cupcake ring. This little gem caught my eye while shopping with Melissa at Barefoot Contessa on Commercial Drive. The entire line is based on an Alice in Wonderland theme, which was so cute I could barely choose just one! I think the packaging is what lured me in…
We also need to talk about the hair genius that is Miss Marlee. This girl is all “oh hey, why don’t you just come in for a haircut on Sunday?” and then transforms my mufasa mane into the most amazing hair cut/style I’ve ever received.
The best part? It cost me $10.Yep, if you go to JC Studios in Gastown you can get a cut & style from a student for only $10! They are all so talented, it’s such a steal!
I took my gorgeous new hair out for a spin…err a walk around Gastown and some of the seawall.
Randomly chose Kasabian’s 2004 album as my “city walk soundtrack”…perfection!
Don’t even pretend that you don’t like the ghetto trash bin/abandoned bbq in the background…
Adam and I had some eats and jazz at The Main on Main Street…yum!
Randomly the ‘E’ on my keyboard is stuck today…this is not good. It’s already driving me bonkers! How do I fix?
PS As far as I know, I have 6 people signed up from my post challenging you to become a registered organ donor. I’m so proud of all of you, keep it up peeps and tweeps 🙂
I wanted so many things for my new room like an old typewriter, an old phone, and an old radio. Problem is that I think I’m supposed to be cutting down the amount of stuff I have rather than picking up more. So I was very strong and only got a big old key and this old suitcase. Not only is the old suitcase just cool, but I think I’ll use it as storage for my extra sets of bedsheets!
