When we decided to make this summer more of a staycation, we made a list of all the fun events and activities to do around the city.  One of the main things we wanted to check out was the Shipyards Night Market in North Vancouver!  It happens every Friday night and though the original plan was to go with a big group of friends, it was an awesome impulsive date night!

The event is FREE which is crazy because there’s so much to see and do.  We really weren’t sure what to expect and were blown away by all the work and detail that must go into making this happen every week.  It makes me really happy to see such a fun initiative in North Van, we already can’t wait to go back!  Read on to find out why:

The location is absolutely ideal!  Parking wasn’t too hard to find a few blocks up Lonsdale, but I think next time we’d even skytrain and seabus over.  That way, we could have a few beverages in the beer garden or at Tap and Barrel.  With the pier right there as well, you get the most stunning vantage point of Vancouver, especially for the sunset!

We are absolute suckers for Tacofino and despite there being so many food trucks, we ended up going for what we know and love.  Their veggie burrito is simply the best!  Next time we’ll venture out a little more for sure, there was tons of different dinner options.  We took our food out to the pier and found a spot to sit and eat no problem.  We weren’t even stalked by seagulls either, which is a rarity around here!

After browsing all the stands in the Pipe Shop and enjoying a bit of the live music, there was nothing else for us to do but get an ice cream and watch the cotton candy skies over the city.  It was THE perfect summer date night, I simply cannot recommend the Shipyards Night Market enough!
