Today is pink shirt day, but somehow in my overflowing closet, I don’t own a pink shirt?!  Which, is why I will do my part to take a stand against bullying by promoting love and ice cream.  Hopefully it still gets the right message across!

P.S. Gotta give a huge shoutout to TRiM Hair Salon (specifically Gen, THE colour specialist) for convincing me to go ombré and for doing such an amazing job!  You guys and gals are kind of the best.

It has been snowing for three days straight.  And sure, my friends in the East are currently rolling their eyes, but seriously Vancouver like shuts down at any sign of snow.  This is why I feel like there is no better time to share snaps from Eden Tropical than right now.  Palm trees always cure those wintertime blues, even if it’s just in photos.

Gal pal Alexandra and I set off on a lengthy journey to Port Saint Lucie, Florida a few weeks ago.  It’s there that we met up with women from all across the country for a unique 2 day Lise Watier experience.  Not only did we get an exclusive first glance at their summer collection (spoiler alert – you’re going to love it), but we also got tons of makeup tips and tricks from International Makep Artist, David Vincent.   We even got a fun surprise when brand new swimwear line Everyday Sunday put on a fashion show of their online collection.  It was an unforgettable whirlwind trip and I’m so happy to have been a part of it.

To give you a better idea, Alex and I compiled my footage into a short video.  Because, really, what else would we do on the flight home?! Hope you enjoy xo

Sometimes, it’s about reverting back to basic black and white.  Especially when that involves some printed trousers.  I’m keen on adding other pops like a great red lip colour and my favourite statement necklace!  You just can’t go wrong with the classics.

The Refinery Magazine // Spring 2014

The Refinery Magazine Spring 2014

The Refinery Magazine is one of my favourite sources for local wedding inspiration.  Each issue is packed with something rustic, something  beautiful, and in this case, even something blue!  There was no way I was turning down an invite from Best Day Ever to be a bridesmaid in a shoot for their next issue.  With a winning team including the mighty talented Christie Graham, we had THE most amazing day and didn’t even flinch at a total downpour little rain.  Since I also plan to have mismatched bridesmaid dresses for my own wedding, this feature was especially fun to see come together.  Take a look at the entire feature here.

Before I had moved to the city, I remember one of the reasons I fell in love with Vancouver was that my best friend Jessica had taken me to Main Street.  We grabbed lattes and wandered around the shops, including Barefoot Contessa.  Still one of my favourite boutiques, Barefoot always has the prettiest items in stock.  I purchased this sequin dress (worn as a top) before new years and then just found the tulle skirt there a few weeks ago.  An obvious pair, I just love everything about a tulle and sequin combination.  Plus, with Ainsley behind the camera, you just can’t go wrong!

The moment I saw this black and white striped dress, I knew it had to be mine.  I have such a tough time finding dresses that cover my arms, are comfortable, but still looks a little fun and sexy.  Plus, it was only $40 AND happened to be on sale when I made the purchase.  How could I possibly have said no?!  It is also one that I figured would be perfect for an occasion like today!  Although, we’re doing things a little different this year.  Tonight our plan is Netflix and ordering Indian food.  Then, we’re heading to a fancy meal on Sunday when there’s far less hype.  It’s going to be such a great weekend!  Sending you all my love today and always.  Happy Valentine’s Day, beauties xo

5 Ways To Makeover Your Morning Routine

February 12, 2014
DSC_0515

If you were to look up ‘morning person’ in the dictionary, you would be like hmm…that sounds like THE opposite of Alicia.  I’m barely even human before 9.  I sleep through alarms, am the queen of the snooze, and have been called one or two mean names by people who have tried to wake me.  It’s just not my best quality.  Something I’ve been working on lately (and really, just like my whole life) is changing up my morning routine.  And not only to make the process of emerging from my slumber a slightly more enjoyable experience, it’s also to better the rest of my day.  After a little research, I have narrowed it down to a few simple ways we can
all give our mornings a mini makeover without over complicating things.  Currently testing them all out and so far, so good!
Take Your Time
I don’t know about you, but I always feel like I’m rushing in the a.m.  To try and reduce this unnecessary extra morning stress, try waking up just a few minutes earlier than you normally would.  Think about how much of a difference even 15 minutes would make?  AND you can use the extra mins for some of the below suggestions.
Hydrate
Sometimes Adam calls me in the middle of the day to ask how many glasses of water I’ve consumed so far and sadly, that number is often zero.  This is just another shameful quality (what is this, confessional?!).  I recently learned that a big glass of lemon water or hot
water with lemon first thing in the morning helps your digestive system. I’ve tried it and it honestly makes a big difference.  It’s a must before your begin caffeinating and gets your daily H2O count off to a solid start!
Back To Basics
The first thing I do after pressing snooze as many times as humanly possible (my neighbours really love me…) is scroll Instagram.  Then, it’s straight to the computer.  All this screen time isn’t really great for the spirit, ya know?  I’m now trying to take the time to sit and set goals and plan the day before even look at a computer.  Plus, it’s a bonus that you get to cross off completed tasks as the day wears on.
Work It
Begin with some exercise.  It’s not a revolutionary concept, and yet it can be such an internal struggle.  I find getting out to the gym is good, or a little yoga at home if I’m strapped for time.  Even a nice morning stroll is lovely.  Either way, you get your work out over with before your day has even begun and you really set a positive tone for the remainder of it.
Nourish
I’m so bad for convincing myself that a cup of coffee is “breakfast”.  We all know that it’s not and missing out on the most important meal of the day has its consequences.  No skipping this one or getting a
Starbucks banana bread on-the-go (come on, we’ve all done it).  Actually eat a breakfast packed with energy and protein so you can start the day strong!

Now, these all don’t necessarily have to be done at the same time.  One or two of the above goes a long way!  Do you have any methods of re-energizing your a.m. routine?  Please do share.  Oh, and all the power to you, my fellow night owls!
