Though my prescription is fairly low, I do wear my glasses for about 70% of the day and I’ve been wanting some funkier (Oh God, did I just say that?) frames, but always kind of put buying some on the back burner. Really happy I finally went through with it, because I think we have a new accessorizing obsession on our hands! Each pair of Clearly Contacts frames gives me a new found confidence for the day and only solidifies the fact that I should have invested in new frames months ago. Some new glasses, a little rouge, and I am feeling sassy!
Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like you just can’t seem to get anything done? That, my friends, is exactly how this day is currently unfolding for me. Let’s just say that my Monday morning began with me running to a coffee date that I soon realized is actually scheduled for NEXT Monday and things have been kind of sideways ever since. My poor to-do list is just waiting patiently for me to finally start crossing some things off (which is why I shall do a happy dance when I finally get this post published). Besides low productivity levels, things today are great. I’m so loving this FCUK sweater that Adam gifted me for Christmas. It’s super cozy and such a beautiful soft leopard print – the only one of its kind in my closet. And trust me, I’ve got a LOT of leopard print.
Can you believe, that I only just began watching Gossip Girl a few months ago? It was one of those things where I hadn’t started from the begging and was sooo behind that I chose to basically ignore it altogether! The beauty in all of this now, is that every episode of GG was recently added to Netflix for my binge-watching pleasure. Which, brings me, of course to my Blair Waldorf obsession. Her style is so impeccable, I look forward to every episode just to see what Blair Waldorf is wearing! Blair has very much inspired my outfits lately, including this one I created with my new favourite Obakki coat. I feel so glamorous every time I wear it, the shape and detailing are just darling.
The amount of time I spend with that magical iPhone glow on my face is probably astonishing. If only it also emitted UV rays, then we’d really be set! Having to balance my freelance work between the iPhone, iPad, and laptop can prove to be a challenge, which is why I’m always searching for the best organizational apps out there. Especially when said apps can simplify tasks, because let’s face it – we’re a lazy bunch! Alas, here are some of the business related apps that I use for Capital Q Creative on the daily.
A notification for an iOS update causes us all so much anxiety. These feelings of dread are only justified when, say, the iOS 7.0.4 version includes a calendar “makeover”. I mean, I love polka dots and all, but I just can’t visualize my days knowing I have something booked on that day, indicated by only a grey dot. That being said, there’s hope. A friend of mine kindly gave me the heads up about Weekly Cal. It’s visually appealing for those of us who’d rather stay organized in a written agenda book anyway. I love its use of colour coding and that it simply syncs my iPhone calendar plans. You should probably give it a try!
I came up with this really cool idea the other day. It was too have an app for email where you could program when you’d like to send messages to people. This would especially come in handy when I decide to start tackling emails at midnight. Turns out, as most things do, that this already exists! Right Inbox was an app that I downloaded onto my PC, not sure if they’re compatible with smartphones yet, but I am loooving it so far!
I’m always searching the internet for great articles to post to social. Pulse makes things easy, by letting you sort news sources into categories and add your own favourite sites. I always feel far more productive scrolling Pulse than I do any other app!
I’m so bad with invoicing. I don’t even know why, it’s just this tedious task that haunts me at the end of every month and completed project. You’d think I never want to get paid! In an attempt to get over this fear of invoicing, I’m giving Fresh Books a try. They do what they can to make invoicing as quick and painless as possible, and for that, I applaud them.
Do you have any favourite business/organization apps?

The only thing better than a fresh bouquet of flowers in January is sporting a floral blazer. Not quite the same thing, but hey, it’s a close second. Throw in a sequin headband and that’s my kind of Monday 🙂
This LOFT blouse has been in heavy rotation lately. You just can’t go wrong with black and white polka dots! It isn’t just the pattern that I love though, I’m all over the fit of this top. Finding a women’s blouse that fits right is basically like finding a unicorn. So, this blouse is kind of like a majestic polka dot unicorn, right?
Resolutions are silly. I only say this, because I’m weak and can never seem to keep them. That’s why, this year I’m trying to trick myself into making things work and setting intentions instead of resolutions. Let’s see if I can pull a fast one on myself and follow these for the rest of the year! Without further ado, in 2014, I intend to…
1. Live With Purpose
Somewhere along the way, I stopped goal setting. I stopped writing in my journal. I gave up healthy habits. I became a shareable version of myself. This year, I will find purpose in every single day and make the most of all 365 of them.
2. Be Present
Whether that means reaching out to someone I haven’t spoken to in a while, staying on top of emails and life organization, or just unplugging for a few hours, I want to do more living in the moment. I hope to feel in control of my life rather than always trying to catch up to it.
3. Take Care Of Myself
This goes beyond just the gym this year, though that’s something that needs to be done along the way as well. This is about really taking care of my mind and body. It’s as simple as things like making sure I actually eat 3 meals a day, regularly going to the doctor, and being responsible financially. I’m an adult and it’s about time I started acting like one!
4. Step Outside Of My Comfort Zone
I’m a creature of habit, raised by creatures of habit, so falling into a comfortable routine is incredibly easy. This year is all about pushing myself. Learning new things, facing “scary” things, trying things I think I won’t like, and taking risks when necessary.

Let’s not forget that I’ve also got big plans and some amazing content for aliciafashionista.com coming up, so be sure to stay tuned. I have a feeling that 2014 is going to be our best yet!
