Kensie Dress and Necklace from Plum // Purse from Forever 21 // Pour La Victoire Booties from the Dakota Group Sample Sale

This Chanel inspired Kensie number has all the properties of a great Little Black Dress. I purchased it almost 4 years ago and it’s so classic that I still get a ton of wear out of it. Though I heart the dress, what I really want to talk about are the shoes. These are my new Pour La Victoire beauties! Not only are they gorgeous, would you believe me if I told you they’re also comfortable?
I’m in “high heel training” right now. I have unfortunately become fairly lazy in the shoe department and rock flats to work pretty much every day. I decided a few weeks ago that this needed to stop immediately. I have since been wearing heels to work and out to run errands to train myself to get used to them again. The only problem is that I have also used my high heel training as a way to justify more high heel purchases, such as these booties. Let’s just say they’re an early birthday present to myself and call it a day ๐Ÿ˜‰

Licia, you rock that LBD. Oh and I know what you mean.. I wear flats to work too. So doing heels on a night out generally doesn't go too well… 2 hrs max!!

Please tell me your heel training is actually working. I have zero heel-tolerance, so I need to do the same!

I need to get myself into heel training too, but I feel so silly donning heels to just run errands! I love that LBD, it is so flattering on you!

  • rachaelkrystina November 1, 2010 at 9:13 pm

So cute! Those boots are fantastic.

I too rock the flats everyday work. I just can't run to the bus fast enough with a few extra inches. However I keep say I'll wear them more often, keep buying heels, and just look at them in my closet and settle on wearing TOMS.

    Oh deary.

That LBD is too adorable, all the little details make it so worth it! Seriously, can't believe you've had it for 4 years. Insane stuff. Just shows how far and how much wear you can get out of classics like that. Those booties are freakin' phenomenal. We all need little treats for ourselves once in awhile, right? ๐Ÿ™‚

Ooh I love the back and sheer blousey sleeves on your LBD! And I know (all too well) what you mean about high heel training. I'm in flats almost all the time.

The back detail of your LBD is so subtly chic, I love it!

    Perfect pairing of accessories!

That is a gorgeous dress!!! The sleeves are absolutely beautiful! You wear it so well. I saw so many pairs of beautiful shoes at the Dakota Group sale but I'm not a sz 6… boo. Are you one of the lucky gals that fits into sample sizing? ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a lovely day!

Haha "high heel training" I'll need that soon, after the winter. That dress looks so current, can't believe it's 4 yrs old!

Ahh, such a pretty black dress – you wear it so casually and relaxed, too. I wear heels when out to dinner, art events, balls and so forth. During daylight I swan about town like a ballet dancer in my ballerinas;-)

I L-O-V-E the way you funked it up with that necklace and boots.

    You look H-A-W-T!

Heels are painful, but they're TOO gorgeous to pass up. I go to work in my heels but I always bring an extra pair of foldable flats.

Check this site out, I got a pair of blue satin jewelled flat, so cute! http://www.fitinclouds.com/

That day I bumped into you at the sample sale, I was wearing my heels. I went to 5 different sales after that and I was in my heels all day. It wasn't THAT bad at all though. You get use to it ๐Ÿ™‚

beautiful necklace and also love your hair in the shots! i totally agree you can't have too many LBD – i have ones that i bought 5 years ago and I still wear them occasionally.

as for heels, i'm the kinda girl that drives to work in flats and slips on the killer heels at the office. but i always keep a pair of flats in case at the desk

Oh that dress is super cute! i love the sheer sleeves.
I have come across your blog from the Barefoot Contessa window displays and I believe I have seen you featured on Nicole's blog before when u two had a fashionable date. I have only met one another Van blogger until now and I loved it.
as to the heel training I have tried that too. actually since i started my blog I wear higher heels than before. still there is no way I can rock 5 inch stilletos for a whole day. its just impossible.

I love that dress on you!! The sheer blousant sleeves and the keyhole at the back and the way you accessorized it, you look gorgeous! And HELLO PLV BOOTS! Those are HOT! Great buy and I will now be wearing them vicariously through you haha

  • Becca Jane November 8, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Those boots are fabulous! Love them. I need to get out of my "wear flats to work everyday" slump too, perhaps some heel training (and purchasing) is in order

  • Hope November 8, 2010 at 9:44 pm

Lady, you look FABULOUS in that dress. It's totally gorgeous, and I love how the booties give it a little edge.

  • Kate November 13, 2010 at 2:54 am

How did I miss this post? I am in LOVE with this dress/whole look! I am so sad to read you bought this dress 4 years ago… I was ready to hunt it down online! This is such a chic outfit, just gorgeous! One of my favorites from you for sure… I'm such a sucker for an all black outfit! And that necklace is stunning!

  • Kate November 13, 2010 at 3:00 am

Oh! And also meant to say that I am so with you on the heel training! I have gotten sooo lazy over the last year or two, I walk to work every day, so flats just seem like the obvious choice (I walk slower in heels, and I am rarely on time as it is!) When my new Sam Edelman wedges arrived in the mail this week, my ankles didn't know what to do with 4 inches of heel! I'm going to wear them around my house I think, to start training myself!
