I’m all three shades of blue today, but only in outfit and not in life, I can assure you.  It’s one of my favourite simple winter looks, which is evident since I basically wore this exact ensemble here as well.  It was ideal for this past weekend, which was all about running errands and catching up on some good ol’ work.  Then of course last night, we had a fun little Oscar gathering at my mother-in-law’s where we snacked on appies and critiqued everyone’s outfits/speeches in our sweats.  Because really, what else is award season about?!  The biggest take away for me was realizing that I’ve basically not seen any of the good movies from last year and have a heck of a lot of catching up to do.  Any that you recommend I label as priority?  Thinking Dallas Buyers Club is topping the list at the moment, but I’m really open to suggestions.

Today is pink shirt day, but somehow in my overflowing closet, I don’t own a pink shirt?!  Which, is why I will do my part to take a stand against bullying by promoting love and ice cream.  Hopefully it still gets the right message across!

P.S. Gotta give a huge shoutout to TRiM Hair Salon (specifically Gen, THE colour specialist) for convincing me to go ombré and for doing such an amazing job!  You guys and gals are kind of the best.

Before I had moved to the city, I remember one of the reasons I fell in love with Vancouver was that my best friend Jessica had taken me to Main Street.  We grabbed lattes and wandered around the shops, including Barefoot Contessa.  Still one of my favourite boutiques, Barefoot always has the prettiest items in stock.  I purchased this sequin dress (worn as a top) before new years and then just found the tulle skirt there a few weeks ago.  An obvious pair, I just love everything about a tulle and sequin combination.  Plus, with Ainsley behind the camera, you just can’t go wrong!

The moment I saw this black and white striped dress, I knew it had to be mine.  I have such a tough time finding dresses that cover my arms, are comfortable, but still looks a little fun and sexy.  Plus, it was only $40 AND happened to be on sale when I made the purchase.  How could I possibly have said no?!  It is also one that I figured would be perfect for an occasion like today!  Although, we’re doing things a little different this year.  Tonight our plan is Netflix and ordering Indian food.  Then, we’re heading to a fancy meal on Sunday when there’s far less hype.  It’s going to be such a great weekend!  Sending you all my love today and always.  Happy Valentine’s Day, beauties xo

My shopping habits have greatly changed in the last few years.  Instead of buying impulsively or to follow trends, I dress for my body shape and opt for quality over quantity.  This doesn’t mean that I always play it safe, but essentially, my goal is always to get the most out of each purchase.  The way my dad feels at a buffet, is the same way that I feel about my clothing; I have to get the most for my money.  This often means getting creative and thinking of styling options that are slightly outside of the box.  You might recognize this Top Shop number from this post and see that this time I layered it over top of another blouse.  Paired it with some bright pumps that bring out some colour in the plaid stripes and you really have a completely different look.  Man, I just love when that happens!

Oh gosh, I forgot how good it felt to just dress up a pair of denim!  Even though this look isn’t anything new and inventive, it’s still something that can feel so fresh and fun.  I was motivated by my new embellished blouse from Top Shop and paired it with a structured blazer, bold shoes, and my favourite jewels.  And even though it’s a few degrees out, I figured any sign of sunshine was a legitimate excuse to sport orange lips.  Gotta keep things bright on these cold winter days!

I’m working once a week at a client’s office and let me tell you, it is actually a welcomed change.  After being at home for over 2 years, I’m all about getting out of the apartment and spending the day with some of my favourite gals.  It has everything there.  Daylight, pink walls, and wifi that doesn’t cut out (it’s 2014 people, how is it that Shaw can’t even get us functioning home wifi?!).  The best part though?  I get to dress up in fun little office outfits again and really look the part!  I used to do this every once in a while anyway, but it’s great having a real excuse and a fitting destination to go with my attire!
