I don’t know if I’ve really explained this, but since I spend so much time in this city, I want to pass on more Vancouver guides and recommendations.  Whether you’re visiting or live just down the street, the beauty of a city is that there’s always something new to discover!  I created the hashtag #604Guide (that I see a couple of random other people have used once or twice…maybe I’m onto something?) because I thought the hashtag would be a cool way to collect ideas on Insta and then I’d create more comprehensive guides and lists here on the blog!

What I wanted to share today was a list I’ve been working on that includes some of my favourite spots around town to kick back, relax, and get beautified!  Self care is so important and no matter what your budget or availability, you can definitely squeeze in a pampering session every once in a while!  From massages, facials, makeup, nails, and brows, you’ll have to read on to find out where you should treat yo self in Vancouver.

FOR A SPA DAY

Willow Stream Spa | 1038 Canada Place, Vancouver (the Fairmont Pacific Rim)

I’ve gushed about Willow Stream in this post, but it simply had to start out today’s list.  Not only is the signature massage to die for, but so are the amenities!  You are treated like spa royalty from the moment you arrive and their thoughtful details and spectacular views make this exactly the kind of spa treatment you’ll want to save up for.  Be sure to carve out some time before or after your service to take full advantage of their patio, pools, and relax rooms – don’t forget your swimsuit!

Scandinave Spa | 8010 Mons Road, Whistler

Okay, okay, more like a few hours away from Vancouver, but needs to be mentioned because it’s literally worth the drive just for a half day at Scandinave!  This tranquil retreat in the mountains feels like something out of a dream.  They offer massage services, but you are also able to pay for a pass to just use their outdoor spa pools, saunas, and relaxation rooms.  I suggest adding the robe rental to your time there, reserving spot in advance or getting there early during busy season, and bringing a book (there’s a no talking rule, so it’s the perfect time to catch up on some reading).

FOR A RELAXING FACIAL

Skoah | 1007 Hamilton Street, Vancouver (multiple locations around though)

This one is slightly skewed because Skoah is actually the only place I’ve ever gone for a facial, but I still feel qualified enough to pass on this recommendation because their services are amazing!  I’ve tried out their Facialiscious treatment a few times now and it is divine.  When I went in last week, I forgot that it includes a massage (definitely did not shave my legs that day – oops), but I very much appreciate how comfortable they always make you feel, especially as someone who doesn’t get a facial very often.  Their signature facial treatment is customized to you and the perfect way to rejuvenate your skin!  If you’re looking for ways to improve your skincare regime, they also provide you with recommendations and introduce you to products after your service.

FOR MAKEUP APPLICATION

Denise Elliott Beauty Co | 129 Lonsdale Ave., North Vancouver

Technically not in the city proper, the gorgeous Denise Elliott Beauty studio is just a hop, skip, and a jump across the water on Lower Lonsdale in North Van.  Denise is the best of the best!  She is the talented makeup artist we brought up to Pemberton for our wedding and now a dear friend of mine.  She’s brought on such a fiercely talented team for makeup and hair at the new studio and I love that you can pop by for a full makeover before an event, or arrange a fun makeup lesson for yourself or a group.  I’m so proud of Denise for opening a space of her own, you HAVE to go check it out for yourself!  And if you’re visiting Vancouver, it’s the perfect excuse to check out North Vancouver (if you’re here in the summer, this Friday market is a must).

FOR A MANI + PEDI

Joyride | 1758 West 4th Ave., Vancouver

Not only does it have a darling lilac and bright white aesthetic, you put your feet up on a freaking Moroccan Pouf during a pedicure.  I love being able to order a coffee with the service and I’ve recently discovered a very talented manicurist named Olga there.  She got my nails to an almond shape for the first time ever and my manis now last the full 3 weeks that shellac should!

Onyx Aesthetics Studio | 421 Abbott Street, Vancouver

This adorable nail salon is just half a block away from my office space, so I’ve been here many times for “mani emergencies”.  I’ve always had lovely experiences at Onyx and usually opt for their Mini Mani with Shellac.

Sparkle Nails | 1228 W Broadway, Vancouver

I had to add Sparkle Nails in as a budget and walk-in friendly option!  I’ve gone here for many years, as they can always accommodate walk ins, their gel polish lasts a really long time, and they definitely get the job done.  Just a tip, I’ve learned that my cuticles are too sensitive to have those ladies cut them, so I usually request that they only push them back.

FOR BEAUTIFUL BROWS

Bombay Brow Bar | 2206 West 4th Ave., Vancouver (other locations as well)

BBB straight up brought my brows back to life.  I’ve been going there ever since I moved to the city and even ran their social media for a few years – hi ladies, miss you!   The Bombay Brow service is incredible (and I usually tack on an ‘a la carte’ to take care of the ol’ upper lip), I honestly cannot say enough great things.  I’ve seen so many ladies there over the years and they always listen and do such an amazing job threading (they wax too though), I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my precious eyebrows.  The brow/head massage at the end totally makes it all worth it and the bonus cup of chai tea is always a treat.  The Kits location is my go-to, but I’m sure any of their locations are just as splendid.

Now that you know my favourite places to relax and get beautified, I want to know yours!  Where in Vancouver (or where you live, in case I ever find myself there) do you love to go for some pampering?

Yes, Olga is the best! (Couldn’t agree more with these recommendations, still haven’t tried Bombay Brow Bar so I’m looking forward to that one!)

I’m SO glad you love Olga too (and the list, always a bit nerve-wracking that someone might hate on some recommendations lol)! Olga was telling me about her MMA fighting the other day and I was like man, you are one badass nail tech! Let me know when you go to Bombay Brow Bar and how it is xoxo
