I am so extra excited that it’s Friday.  One of my good friends is saying ‘I do’ tonight and I have another fun girls night planned for tomorrow.  It has also been one of those weeks that has exhausted me to the core.  This, of course, always happens when one doesn’t exercise regularly and then suddenly goes from zero to hero.  But it’s time to get in shape again and to find that balance in my life.  It was also just a week where I said yes to too much.  It always sounds like to tons of fun, but I need to start planning my weeks out realistically and make sure that I’m not taking on more than I can handle.  Do you ever do this?  It’s the true curse of a social butterfly/people pleaser.  Anyway, the point of all of this was to say a combo of TGIF and cheers and happy Friday.

Also, if you want to enter to WIN an Olivia Solie Arm Party like the one I’m rocking above, there’s still time!  Get all the details here. xoxo

Almost as much as I’d always fantasized about one day visiting Paris, I felt just as strongly about seeing the South of France.  We agonized for months about where along the coast we’d go, which feels completely overwhelming when you’ve never been to a place before.  You do everything you can not to make “the wrong” decision.  We’re so thankful to all of you for your suggestions, they definitely helped guide us to what ended up being best for us: Antibes, France.

We splurged for first class train tickets for the 5 hour ride from Paris to Antibes via Merseille.  Money well spent I tell ya!  The only thing we hadn’t factored in, was that the food on the train was mediocre at best and so on the way back we’d loaded up on fresh pastries and sandwiches instead.  But hey, you live and you learn!  As soon as that coastline was in view, we knew we’d arrived in paradise.  For the same price as a small room several blocks away from the beach in Nice (which we were seconds away from booking at one point) we got top floor at a waterfront hotel in Antibes.  Their sandy beaches and rustic buildings were exactly what I’d always envisioned in the South of France.  It honestly couldn’t have worked out any better.

Once we got settled, we went out for a walk at magic hour and then back to the room to quickly change for a patio dinner.  Even though it was a simple first day there, it was so special in its own way.  Looking at these pictures, I wish I could transport us back there, even if it were just for an evening like this.

I just have to say it.  Navy is the new black.  There you go.  It’s out there, ready to be spread around like wildfire!  No seriously, I can’t believe how much I’m wearing this dark shade of blue AND that I’m often choosing it over my beloved black staples!  I also recently retired my old trench coat after the plastic belt buckle got caught in a car door while I was closing it and snapped into a million pieces as a way to laugh at me and my cheap outerwear.  Anyway, this Massimo Dutti raincoat does not disappoint.  Great detailing and it just feels so crisp!  The lining is also navy blue with white polka dots – so cute I can barely handle it.  Thanks Massimo Dutti for having a Canadian affair so we could join in on the shopping fun!

Woke up in a very San Francisco-esque fog this morning.  Made me turn to some of my recent inspirations.  Rich fall fabric colours and textures, a great pair of boots, and the perfect ponytail.  Wishing I could snap my fingers and make all these September details come true 😉

This will forever be etched in history as the summer that just wouldn’t quit.  Having this many days of sunshine in a row is positively unheard of for us Vancouverites.  Wardrobe-wise, I’m definitely feeling it. My collection is only equipped with enough to get me through a few weeks of heat, not two straight months!  And to be honest, I had already started switching over my closet last week.  Good thing I hadn’t taken things to storage yet (and by storage, I mean my old room – thanks mom) or else I’d be in real trouble.  Looks like pre-fall will just have to wait a little longer, we need to soak up this sun while it lasts.

It’s fun to dress up very basic pieces with something as simple as a sock bun.  My hair is all like, “you better take me seriously, I have a huge bun on the top of my head!”  Very assertive and adult if you ask me!  I must also mention that this is sadly the last post that will feature those beautiful beaded DSW sandals.  My favourite pair of summer sandals lived a good life, but were unfortunately worn until they were in pieces.  Pieces that I tried to salvage back together, but no such luck.  They just couldn’t be saved.  The bright side?  I get to go shoe shopping!

Grab your high heels and your favourite shade of lipstick, it’s party time!  Deemed the ‘Arm Party’ by the oh-so-lovable Man Repeller, I can’t get enough of this look.  Which, is why I went crazy for the Olivia Solie fall line of stack-worthy bracelets and cuffs.  “It’s all about mixing different textures,” explains Kristen Patterson, the designer behind Olivia Solie. “There’s so many different looks you can go for too, ” Kristen adds, “Anything from softer boho looks to fun neon 90’s, and SoCal rocker spikes.”  I had to agree that the versatility of the bracelets is great, since your arm party could be as small as one piece and it still makes a big statement.

So, we want to help you step your bracelet stacking game up!  You can enter to WIN your very own Olivia Solie Arm Party!  We’re talking up to 6 Olivia Solie bracelets to mix and match – an approximate $215 value.

Just a little slice of heaven on Nicola Lake.  I’m feeling completely recharged and super thankful that Adam’s fam is kind enough to let us stay at their cabin every once in a while.  Labour Day weekend was the perfect summer sendoff!

P.S. Thanks to Jessica for recommending ‘Wild’ by Cheryl Strayed.  The writing is superb, the story is enthralling, and you’ll only better yourself by reading it (if you haven’t already).  Honestly, I think you’ll love it!

I’m so nostalgic for today.  Oh, that first day back to school; fresh books and pencils, a new outfit, classrooms to be found, friends to be made.  A mix of excitement and anxiety, swirling around in your stomach like a cocktail of nerves.  It meant new beginnings and held so much possibility that it resonates so strongly still to this very moment.
Today is my new years.
It might have been completely grey this morning, raindrops falling down squashing any last signs of summer, but I leapt out of bed with anticipation.  New routines must be formed, to-do lists made, goals to be met, and work to be done.  It’s a new season and a fresh start.
Happy September to you all 🙂
