Summer Makeup Routine

I ?? actually ?? put ?? makeup ?? on ?? and ?? did ?? my ?? hair.

I love to be as low maintenance as possible when it comes to an everyday makeup look, especially in the summertime, when skin has a bit of a natural glow and it can be so darn hot out!   This simple look is a slight variation of my no makeup makeup tutorial from last summer.  You can find a more detailed description of the routine there, but this time around, I’ve done a little video of my process for you!  For a complete list of products, be sure to read on below:

SKIN

The goal is always beautiful skin isn’t it?  I’m still a true believer in Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer (I use the ‘sand’ shade), applied with a Beauty Blender.  The blender really gives it an even, natural application.  You just wet the sponge, squeeze out the excess water, and then dab the product onto your face.  Be sure to thoroughly wash afterwards and then let it air dry in an open spot.  I’m also still loving the Cover FX Cream Concealer for spots and under eyes.  Helps hide any pimples or redness (or a mosquito bite, like I had last week).  I hear Laura Mercier has a new foundation coming out, which I’m very keen to try.  I’ve wanted a great foundation with some more coverage than a tinted moisturizer, but any that I’ve ever tried completely dry out my skin!  My face takes on desert-like conditions and the product tends to clump and flake.  If you have any moisturizing foundation recommendations, pleeeeease let me know!

CHEEKS

After watching the video, I realized that my cheeks look like Neapolitan ice cream LOL!  I’ve been contouring on my cheeks with bronzer, then adding blush and then a highlight above that.  It’s quite a standout combo, so I’ve not been bothering with any other highlight/contour.  I never used to think my blush or bronzer was that important, but now I see that it can completely change your entire makeup look!

EYES

It’s so hot some days, that I just apply mascara and leave it at that.  Whether I opt for eyeliner or not, I’m always about thick lashes, it really makes your eyes pop!  I’ve been testing out the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara and I’m sooooo impressed!  Creates length, volume, and is long lasting but still washes off okay at the end of the day.  I’m not particularly into any eyeshadow at the moment, likely thanks to the heat as well.  I have some new palettes that I hope to play around with for fall though!

LIPS

The number one priority at this time of year, is the protect your precious pout!  A lip balm with SPF is always top priority, and I try not to dry my lips out with too much lipstick at this time of year.  Plus, things can get a bit melty if you’re not careful!  One product that I am loving is the Tarte Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit.  It’s a great pinky nude shade for daytime and doesn’t dry up your lips at all!  I feel like I need to do a blog post about all my favourite nude lip shades soon, I am building quite the collection.

And that’s it!  Let me know if you have any questions or if you enjoy this kind of post!  I hope to be doing more of these from now on.
